You should consider two things:
1) What style of wedding photos do you want? Do you want the wedding captured exactly as it unfolds? Do you want the day to be mostly captured through posing and carefully planned moments for the camera? Do you want a mix of both?
2) You should like your photographers! You'll be with your photographer almost every single minute of your wedding day so they should be likeable people!
Same goes for family sessions. You should like your photographer and decide whether you want photos of your kids giving you a kiss and being sweet, or if you'd rather have everyone posed perfectly and smiling at the camera.
Our main goal is to capture the AUTHENTIC moments between you and your groom. Yes, we will capture the traditional photos of you looking at the camera and smiling, but after doing this for 7 years we've realized that the photos our clients value the most are the photos of them hugging grandpa, first dance tears with dad, or their groom's first look reaction. Those are the moments that matter when your future kids or grandkids are looking through your album one day!
We help you plan a detailed photography timeline after you book with us that allows you to RELAX on your wedding day so you can let the day unfold naturally. We'll plan plenty of portrait time, but we'll take a candid approach to the prep, ceremony, and reception.
We've done this enough to know that things don't always go as planned, but we always add in extra time into your final timeline that allows us to recover if the day gets behind schedule.
You can plan an engagement session with us before your wedding day and that's always fun. It's a good way for us to get to know each other before the wedding and a good way for you guys to feel more comfortable in front of our cameras.
We aren't for everyone! I like to say this up front. We value genuine moments, keeping our couples relaxed, and feeling like part of the family, but we understand that's not what every bride and groom want. Some couples want a very dark photograph or a highly posed and retouched portrait and that's also not what we do and it would truly be a mistake if you hired us wanting either of those things.
Our approach to family sessions is similar. We focus on the genuine moments between a child and their parents or siblings. We try to get a photo of everyone looking and smiling at the camera, but even if that doesn't happen because a two year old has other ideas in mind then we will still walk away from that session with images you love and cherish forever. We highly encourage our families to purchase an album so the photos are passed down through the generations and not just sitting around on a usb that could break of become damaged at any moment.
We intentionally book fewer weddings to make sure we have LOTS of time to dedicate to our couples. If you like our work and even think you might want to hire us for your wedding, drop us a note and let us know when your big day is. We’ll let you know right away if we’re available.
Your date will be locked in once you sign the contract and send a $900 deposit (we do it all online!).
